I was amazed at the amount and quality of the Street Art in Reykjavík. In fact, had I realised prior to my visit, I would have investigated more locations and visited them while in the city. I was only there for one day and just came across these by accident.
Some of the art is part of the wallpoetry project. Iceland Airwaves and Urban Nation Berlin’s 2015 ‘wallpoetry’ event where the curator, Yasha Young’s aim was to connect creative minds worldwide. Yasha’s goal was to “take the invisible creative process when a painter listens to a record while painting or a musician sees a certain painting or art installation and wants to incorporate the emotional experience and inspiration in her or his songs and connect this process between the two on a very special collaborative platform.” Click here to read more about wall poetry.
