North of Rome and south east of Florence, Perugia is certainly picturesque. In the Umbria region, it’s crossed by the river Tiber. The city wall and arch are Etruscan. Etruscan translates to the culture and way of life of citizens of ancient Italy. The Romans called them etrusci or Tusci.

There is so much to see and do, however, if you have a sweet tooth, visit in October for the Eurochocolate festival in October. It lasts for 10 days and I have never seen so much chocolate! Next year’s event runs from 16th – 25th October if you fancy it – diet first!

If in town, I can recommend Hotel Primavera. A great location, amazing hospitality and as you can see from my two photographs ‘through the window’ and ‘sundown’), these are taken from the private balcony in the top room, well worth the extra for this fantastic view.  The sunsets are not to be missed!
