Assisi, in Latin Asisium, is an Italian town in the province of Perugia, the Umbria region on the west flank of Monte Subasio.
It is the birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in the town in 1208 and also St. Clare (Chiara d’Offreducci), the founder of the Poor Sisters. This later became the Order of Poor Clares after her death.
Everything is amazing about Assisi. The friendly Italians, the most delicious food, fantastic frescos, churches to behold and so much history. Oh, and I must mention the wine! So much to chose from and some of the best in the world.
One for the bucket list, you will not be disappointed in a trip to Assisi.
