Sometimes, travelling with a camera and photography is just about being in the right place at the right time and always having a camera handy.  That is so much easier these days with mobile phones.

I had taken shelter from the heat of the day on a shady bench and along came Mr Chameleon. One of the best walks I have ever seen!

Some interesting chameleon facts:

They are a distinctive and highly specialised clade of Old World lizards. There are more than 200 known species which come in a range of colours. Many have the ability to change colour.

Chameleons are distinguished by their zygodactylous feet (two toes point forwards, and two backwards); their very extensive, highly modified, rapidly extrudable tongues; their swaying gait and crests or horns on their brow and snout. Most species, the larger ones in particular, also have a prehensile tail (can grasp items). Chameleons’ eyes are independently mobile, but in aiming at prey, they focus forward in coordination, affording the animal stereoscopic vision e.g. see an object as solid in three spatial dimensions – width, height and depth.
