‘Physical Energy’ is situated in Hyde Park, London. It is a bronze sculpture by English artist George Frederic Watts who was also a painter.

Physical Energy was first cast in 1902, two years later, Watts passed away.

The sculpture was intended to be Watts’s memorial to ‘unknown worth’. He said it was a symbol of “that restless physical impulse to seek the still unachieved in the domain of material things”.

The original plaster scaled model is located at the Watts Gallery.  There are two further large bronze casts located in Cape Town and Harare.

Hyde Park is definitely worth a visit when in the capital. It is one of eight Royal Parks in the city and covers 350 acres. It is home to a number of famous landmarks; the Serpentine Lake, Speaker’s Corner and the Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain plus many more fantastic things to see and do.
