Wroclaw is the largest city in western Poland and is built on several islands which are connected by more than 100 bridges on the River Oder.  It is also famous for it gnomes or krasnales as they are known locally, which have long held a place in Polish folklore.  There are currently 282 of these little people dotted around the city.

I was in awe at the Market Square (Rynek) which is one of the largest in Europe.  The buildings are amazing and to think it was totally rebuilt from ruins after the Siege of Breslau (another name for Wrocław) which took place over 3 months in 1945.
